Our Journey for Animal Welfare

   In 2008 a horse named Fancy came into our families life and made an impact that will last a lifetime. She was brave, mischievous, kind, and smart. She was taken on trail rides and to shows. Soon she would retire from being ridden due to her condition, navicular. But Fancy’s role in our family did not stop there. For the next sixteen years she would live as a loving member in the Onufrak family. When her time to cross the rainbow bridge came in September 2024, it was with heavy hearts that we had to say our goodbyes. But Fancy created something in our hearts, a passion to rescue and provide loving homes for other horses and all animals who need a helping hand. Today the Happy Tails Animal Rescue exists so that we can play a role in helping all animals in need. Animals have a way of nestling into our hearts and living there forever; in honor of the unconditional love this family has received from countless pets, we hope to give that unconditional love back to every animal we can! 

   Happy Tails Animal Rescue is more than just an organization; we're a family run non profit, dedicated to the welfare of animals in Colorado. Our story begins with a simple belief: every animal deserves love and compassion. With this guiding principle, we aim to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home animals in need, ensuring they find their forever homes.
